Transition

It is getting pretty hot in here recently but I'm still not ready to dive into my summer pieces. I feel like it's still winter whenever I step into the studio (my work), partly because the aircon hits my space directly and because my body is just so sensitive to cold temperatures that I always find myself wearing long sleeves, cardigans and jumpers.
I bought this open knit jumper on sale for 30dhs. in H&M, 30dhs.! I thought that it was perfect for the cold with its long sleeves and cool enough with its holes to accept the warm weather outside. I love how comfy it is and slouchy enough to hide my bulging tummy after lunch, Bonus! Paired it with classic black leggings and skull-studded flats for a relaxed vibe and topped it off with a statement necklace for an edgy touch.
Right, so here goes another outfit post after a while. Hope you all have a nice weekend! :)

Rave: No Tangle Hair Brush

I have been dyeing my hair red for more than 3 years now and with this damaging procedure, I make sure I try my hardest to compensate with proper care. I'll let you guys in a secret though, I'm such a lazy person when it comes to hair maintenance, I rarely brush my hair. I only do it in the morning after taking a bath, on better days, I brush again before I sleep, but that seldom happens.
Brushing my hair is not an easy task, I always get tangles at the ends and combing them out is such a time-consuming and painful experience (I know some of you will relate to this) Everything goes smoothly, until I hit those dreaded ends! I have to brush through them softly, but let's be honest, who has time to delicately go through them? I know I don't. I cannot stress how much damage this is causing my hair. Until I found this *cue angels singing* No Tangle Brush from Macadamia Hair products. It has this unique flex design with uneven bristles that reduces the pain from brushing hair and slowly untangles your ends. I got this one in a promo bag as I was really after their hair masque. This weird looking brush came with the pack so I gave it a try, and was really impressed. It does what it says, No Tangle, it gets rid of those pesky little knots without the uncomfortable pain. It looks chunky and unusual but you get a good grip with its handle. Once you get going, the flexy bristles bend and slowly unties the tangles. I use this on wet hair too, I used to brush with a wide-toothed comb to reduce the damage, but this works really well. You can buy this brush here. If you have the same problem as I do, give this little wonder a try, it's definitely affordable.

Beginning to see the light

Hi y'all, meet my model friend Yulia. She's such an amazing person. So beautiful inside and out. We did this simple shoot along the beach, very natural, with no make-up and understated clothes. I wanted her beauty to push through the simplicity, and it definitely did.

Valentine's Heart Manicure

Valentine's day is nearing and I thought of a sweet way to celebrate it, a heart manicure! I've been inspired by all the heart decorations I've been seeing lately and thought, why not decorate my nails with it? I've seen YouTube gurus doing heart nail tutorials, but most of them used either a dotting tool or a reconstructed hairpin to manually draw the heart. I wanted an easier way out of that complicated one, because I'm a hundred percent sure I would mess it up, trust me I would. I was not born as talented as they are to be able to draw hearts on both hands, so here's how I did mine. If you would like to know how, just scroll down :)

These are the tools I used: Scissors, Clear Tape, Nail Polish and Base Coat. Simple right? I picked two colors, one for the main color of my nails and the other for the heart.

It is optional to use a base coat but I prefer using it to protect my nails from staining. I also noticed that my polish glides on more smoothly and stays much more longer with it.

After applying the base coat, I brushed on the main color. I put on two coats of this baby pink hue because    one coat is just too light, I wanted the pink to stand out.

I then cut a strip of tape, folded it over and cut a heart. Just like how we used to do at school with our art papers, remember those carefree days? I do! I suggest that you try and practice a couple of times first, cut a couple of hearts on different strips and choose the best out of the bunch. I tried to experiment with paper tape but the red polish just kept on seeping through and was not able to hold it's heart shape, so I ended up with clear tape.

Here's a sample of a used up tape cut out.

Please make sure that your main polish is completely dried off before placing and sticking the cut out tape or else it will peel off the main polish and you'll have to go through it all over again. I don't want you to go through that, because I did, twice! and I was just so frustrated that I had to wait again and again for it to completely dry, so be patient with this stage and just be absolutely sure that it's dry before proceeding.

I then applied my second color over the cut out. Make sure you get all the edges covered especially the tail end.

Lastly, I peeled the tape off slowly and ta-dah! This is what I got and hopefully you do too! You can experiment with different colours and even add some glitter polish on top. You can even put hearts on all your fingers, I just decided to put only one on my ring finger and leave the rest plain (Don't judge! I'm lazy like that). The sky is the limit with your creativity!

If you tried this out please comment below, tweet me a picture or post a picture on my Facebook wall! Happy Valentine's to you whether you're celebrating it with a loved one or with friends, you all deserve to have a good time! :)

Style it with Forever 21

Last October, Forever 21 Middle East and North Africa (MENA) held a styling competition for their Facebook fans. The rules were to style three looks; 1 Autumn/Winter, 1 Club wear, and 1 style of your choice. I was debating as to join or not but the prize was pretty big and so I decided to give it a try. Luckily, I won 1st runner up and was awarded AED1,000. Pretty awesome huh? I was so excited about it since Forever21 is one of my favorite places to shop, because of their chic clothes with really affordable prices. You'll find my entries below :)
